Beautiful New Zen Garden Submission | October 7, 2003

John Hick's new Zen Garden Submission is possibly the best one yet.

John has managed to create a design that blends a clean, elegant layout with a strong visual identity. The colour scheme and considered use of whitespace give the design a beautiful calm sense of balance.

John's submission has definitely upped the ante, pushing the quality of design to the next level.

I'm just glad I managed to get my design in before this one.

Hey, I know that feeling. The quality of work is going up a little too much, I’m not sure if my own upcoming new one is going to fit thanks to the past 15 or so…

Not that I’m complaining!

Yep, looks like I will never submit one. Just sit back and watch all you 3l337 creative types go to work.

Bah. Self doubt is the Number 1 killer of creativity, in my opinion. Actually, I read that from the back of a cereal box, so it’s only my opinion via proxy or whatnot, but that’s not important Mr. 5th-Grade English Teacher man. Don’t think I haven’t forgotten about that “F” you gave me years ago, Mr. Allen. I’m watching you like a fat kid watches a ham sandwich.

Anyway, don’t be discouraged. Think of this as a friendly open challenge to one-up your peers. Competition does wonders for the creative juices.
