If you've work with a large design agency before, you've probably been assigned an account manager. They tend to be super charismatic people who are good at forming interpersonal relationships, and build a bridge between you and the agency. However you may also wonder what they actually contribute to the project, and why they appear on your bill at the end of the month.
Divergent/convergent thinking is a fundamental part of the design process, and something most experienced practitioners are familiar with. Essentially the design process is broken down into two phases; a phase where you open up the problem space and explore as many different directions as possible; and a phase where you start analysing all the possible solutions you’ve come up with, in order to settle on the perfect answer.
The England of my youth was a desert for good food. I learnt to dive the PADI way, safe in the knowledge that my "buddy" would be there to help if I needed them. So if I was struggling to get my fins on they'd steady me, if I got caught in some fishing line they'd untangle me, and in the unlikely event that I ran out of air, we could breath from the same source. The "buddy system" provides a great comfort blanket and makes recreational diving that much safer.
